What is Back Pain?

Back pain is a very common problem and usually has multiple causes, sometimes those causes being joined. Being overweight or leading a sedentary lifestyle causes back pain, so too can colds or muscle strain, sprain and trauma. Typically, back pain can occur when there is bad posture for a prolonged period of time or when muscles are excessively tense, due to stress.

What are the Symptoms of Back Pain?

Lower back pain refers to pain or tenderness in the lumbar spine, whereas upper back pain is located above the lumbar sacral region. Sciatica can be associated with lower back pain, ranging from the lower back, through the back of the thigh and down through the leg.
